SUDAN HEALTH 2007
SUDAN INTERNATIONAL HEALTH, MEDICAL AND MEDICINE FAIR
31 October – 4 November, 2007
Khartoum-SUDAN
150 million $ from Sudan for healthcare spending
Depending on the start of stable peace process and the increase in petroleum
revenues, Sudan has achieved the highest rate of growth after Chine all over
world. The healthcare sector is in the first rank among the most important
sectors that can be developed in Sudan taking the attention of the producers and
exporters of third countries due to her economic performance. As a matter of
this fact, the healthcare spending which is in the third rank among the sectors
having priority in Sudan Budget as of the end of 2006 reach to 150 millions
dollars along with the projects carried out by many international organizations
such as UNICEF, UN and MDTF.
Golden opportunity for the producers and exporters in healthcare sector …
The healthcare problems are the first among the most important problems in
Sudan. The infectious diseases are common due to the polluted drinking water,
insufficient nourishment and environmental factors. There are difficulties
related with medical materials such as medicines, injectors, aseptic gauzes,
bandages, plasters and sanitary pads. The productions capacities of the plants
manufacturing these materials are not more than 30%. There is a need for
building new plants or modernizing the existing ones.
According to the data collected from Sudan in 2003, there are 1000 privately
owned clinics, 350 state hospitals, 1200 health offices, 3000 private medical
boards and approximately 4000 pharmacies. These numbers are far from meeting the
needs in a country having a population of 40 million people. As the medicines
cannot be produced in Sudan, a policy wholly depending on foreign countries is
followed.
The Sudanese Government has allocated a serious source for developing and
improving the capacities of healthcare institutions and wide spreading the
primary healthcare services.
Sudan; the gateway to East African market
Sudan, which is the member of Common Market of East and South African
Countries (COMESA), has the opportunity of duty-free trading with the countries
forming a large geography of 375 million people. Within the framework of the
policy of expanding to Africa, Sudan is in the position of being the gateway to
the East African countries thanks to the opportunities of port and the potential
of development.
Sudan Health opens the African market to the Turkish producers and exporters
of medical materials …
